Executive Directors of Mercy Ministries: Scott and Josie Gwin
Scott
Scott was born to a Pastor for a church for the deaf in Aurora, CO in February of 1974. He is fluent in sign language due to this environment. Scott graduated from Rangeview High School in Aurora. He attended one year of college at Colorado State University, and one year of Bible school at Cornerstone Bible Institute in South Dakota. He spent ten years as a carpenter including 3 years as the assistant building coordinator at Camp IDRAHAJE, a summer camp and retreat center in Bailey, Co. He took over the Horse program at Camp in 2003 and ran it until God called he and Josie to WHHM. He is a horsemanship instructor with the Certified Horsemanship Association, a national organization that certifies instructors for group riding programs. Scott worked for the Colorado Dept of Transportation for 2 and half years in addition to serving as Executive Director of Mercy Ministries. He serves full time as Executive Director as of January 2011.
Josie
Josie was born to Fred and Karleen Dewey (Mercy Ministries) in November of 1975. She graduated from Faith Christian Academy in Arvada, CO. She attended one year of college at Trinity Western University in Vancouver, BC. Her family is very ministry oriented and has served in several countries in Asia and Europe. She grew up with 9 siblings as well as several foster kids. She worked numerous years at Camp IDRAHAJE as summer staff where she met Scott in 1994. They were married in December of 1995. Josie assumed the position of Assistant Horse Program Director at Camp IDRAHAJE when she and Scott joined the full time staff there in 2000. She served the Horse program at Camp until becoming the largest asset and the driving force of WHHM in 2006. She is also a horsemanship instructor with the Certified Horsemanship Association. Josie has served full time as Executive Director of Mercy Ministries @ Mercy Trails Ranch since June 2008
Scott and Josie have 3 children, Talan(14), Mckenna(13), and Sadie(9).
Josie and Scott serve their community in many ways in addition to Mercy Ministries @ Mercy Trails Ranch.
Scott is a First Responder, certified Firefighter 2 firefighter, Fire Chaplain and guitarist on the church worship team. Josie is a Firefighter, Fire Chaplain, and on the church worship team. They are both national team members for the International Critical Incident Stress Management Foundation (ICISMF) and are trained in ministering to police and fire personnel, as well as civilians, during disaster and crisis situations.
Scott and Josie are certified Love and Logic Parenting Instructors and will be teaching these classes at different organizations and churches around Colorado, as well as developing a training program for caregivers of Romanian orphans.
